Product Description This set adjusts from 3-24 lbs in 3 lb increments (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24 lbs) in each hand. This set has a maximum weight of 24 lbs per hand and cannot be made heavier than the 24 lb maximum weight per hand.
It replaces 8 pair or 16 fixed dumbbells that would have a combined weight of 216 lbs.
Amazon.com Product Description The only dumbbell system that can expand to meet your strength needs, PowerBlock dumbbells are the most versatile and effective exercise tool ever developed for strength training. PowerBlocks work intuitively. Rather than requiring you to buy a room full of dumbbells, PowerBlocks act just like a weight stack at the gym, with a weight handle that fits inside the first weight, which fits inside the second, which fits inside the third, etc. When you want to change weights, you simply move the weight selector pin into the appropriate slot and you're set. As you lift the core, all the weights above the selector pin are lifted at the same time, turning your 3-pound dumbbell into a 6-pound dumbbell, or your 6-pound dumbbell into a 12-pound dumbbell. Not only is the system remarkably easy to use, but it's also cost- and space-efficient, as a single pair of dumbbells can do the work of dozens. This pair of SportBlock 24x3 dumbbells, for instance, adjusts from 3 to 24 pounds in 3-pound increments (3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, and 24 pounds), in effect doing the job of 16 individual weights. Even better, the weights are more compact and balanced than traditional dumbbells, with a padded handle that protects people with weak wrists. Best of all, the free weights are terrific whether you're trying to build muscle mass, firm and tone your physique, or get rid of unwanted body fat. The SportBlock set offers a maximum weight of 24 pounds per hand and carries a limited 10-year warranty.

Excellent set of weights for price and convenience August 26, 2010 Kristine L. (Los Angeles, CA) I bought this dumbbell set to use for Chalean Extreme and P90X, and it was a great investment! I was definitely intimidated by the price but after researching other adjustable sets, like the Bowflex Selecttech weights and other cheaper alternatives, I went ahead and bought the Powerblocks. And it's a good thing I did! They're space-efficient, easy-to-use, and a good price considering what you're getting. The design is a little funkier to use than traditional dumbbells, but you adjust your workout to it, and I hardly notice anymore after using it. I debated buying separate sets of weights but the price of all those amounted to roughly the price of the Powerblocks and would take up an immense amount of space in my compact living room. I was able to purchase these at my local sporting goods store for about $160 which is cheaper than Amazon, so I suggest that you google and shop around in your area if you want to save some money. But I would definitely say if you're on the bubble about purchasing these because you're thrown off by the price, do it!!! If you're committed about getting fit and strong, you will need a wide range of weights and these are the best value. If you only plan to apply working out and strength training to be a temporary thing instead of a lifestyle, then definitely save your money and buy that one pair of 5 pound neoprene dumbbells.
Awesome! August 25, 2010 Christopher A. Lugo (Inland Empire, CA USA) These power blocks are just what the doctor ordered. My fiance and I can use the same set of weights and save money, it's awesome.
Plus they are nice and compact. A little on the pricey side, I think the stand should come free considering they cost close to $200 dollars, but considering the amount I spent on a pair of 15 lbs. Reebok weights the week before (close to $70 for the pair, needless to say I returned them) these are definitely cost effective if you are on a budget.
Save up for them.
Peace.
Love this item. August 2, 2010 kay It is a little tricky learning to use the set - (adjusting the weight choice), but once I learned the trick to it, it is perfect for my curcuit training which requires quick changes in weight. The set looks neat, and is very compact. Would recommend it to anyone who needs a dumbell set that maxes out at 25 lbs.
good product July 20, 2010 daddio (TEXAS) I like the powerblocks and they change fairly easy. Sometimes you can get the pin crossways but it is not hard to correct. I also have the bowflex 52.5 lbs. and think they are the best on the market. The question will be how much do you want to spend and how much weight do you need. This product works fine and I would recommend it but the bowflex dumbells are the best. This product is smaller and better for someone not needing the extra weight of the bigger dumbell.
Excellent dumbbells for workout videos like P90X July 9, 2010 MG 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been using these SportBlocks for a little over a month now as part of my workout routine. For my purposes of gaining a moderate amount of size and then toning, these have been perfect.
I find the weights to be easy to swap between and relatively quick. It takes a bit of practice (especially on carpet) to get the safety pin locked on the correct weight and securely. On carpet, the trick is to push down on the handle when inserting the pin. Just make sure it "clicks" when fully inserted to know it's secure. Rarely do I need to press pause between reps when needing to swap to a heavier or lighter weight.
The safety pin could use a re-design. It is plastic and flexible which can sometimes allow you to incorrectly misalign on two different weights, or split the pin around two weights. As long as you're paying attention, usually not a problem.
Pros:
3-24 lbs is perfect for my frame and workout purpose
I don't have 3 pairs of standard weights sitting around cluttering my living room
Quick switch between weights is easy and color coded
Rubberized grip is easy to grasp and does not slip
Cons:
The safetey pin is made of plastic and flexes.
Minor issue, but the stickers on the top of the handle on my weight were not aligned properly. Because it's a thick plastic sticker, it's cause a few scraped wrists. I just peeled them off and re-applied.
Rattles a bit when moving around but appears to be secure provided the pin is properly aligned
I'm very happy with these weights to date. They are well made overall, versatile, and easy to swap out during a workout routine. Not to mention less clutter in the living room to keep the wife happy. Bonus points!
